Scientific-practical conference on “Studying the scientific legacy of academic Jalal Aliyev” was held in Ganja

      Scientific-practical conference on “Studying the scientific legacy of academic Jalal Aliyev”, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the prominent scientist, well-known public figure, full member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Honored Scientist, doctor of biological sciences, professor Jalal    Alirza Aliyev took place in the Azerbaijan State Agrarian University.

      In his opening speech the rector of the Azerbaijan State Agrarian University, correspondent member of ANAS, Professor Ibrahim Jafarov spoke about contributions of Jalal Aliyev to the development of biology and his merits in the investigation of theoretical bases of photosynthetic productivity of agricultural plants, especially wheat, and in the complex research of the processes of photosynthesis and photorespiration. The rector noted that high productive wheat varieties with high grain quality, created by academic Jalal Aliyev are grown in the majority of wheat cultivating areas of Azerbaijan, as well as in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Georgia. Jalal Aliyev developed the strategy of the National Program on the Azerbaijan plant genetic resources, conservation and rational use of biodiversity. He also created Plant GenBank, and was the Chief Editor of “Azerbaijan Red Book”. Representatives of its scientific school contribute to the development of agrarian science not only in Azerbaijan, but also in many countries of the world, including CIS, USA, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Israel and some European countries.

      The conference was attended by a large delegation of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of ANAS. Deputy director on scientific affairs of the Institute, associate professor Alamdar Mammadov, Deputy director on general affairs Natig Allahverdiyev, doctors of philosophy in biology Ibrahimova Ulker, Gurbanova |Ulduza, young researchers Abdullayeva Gulnar, Bayramova Nargiz, Alisoy Fidan, Sadigova Elnara, Ganbarova Parvin and Ismayilova Gunay gave their presentations. Alamdar Mammadov emphasized the importance of preserving, sustainable development and study of Jalal Aliyev’s legacy, and special role of the vice-president of ANAS, director of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies, academic Irada Huseynova in the achieving this aim. Speeches of more than 50 young researchers, representatives of the Azerbaijan State Agrarian University, Institute of Botany, A. I. Garayev Institute of Physiology, Institute of Zoology, Institute of Genetic |Recourses, Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry, Institute of Oil and Gas, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical Institute, Research Institute of Crop Husbandry, Baku State University were also listened at the conference.
