"Non-flowering higher plants of Azerbaijan" book published in English

ANAS Botany Institute, an equal member of the World Flora online consortium, has been deliberately working on the development of the electronic flora of Azerbaijan since 2014. In this regard, it is planned to draw up a list of information (checklist) of natural, xenophytic and adventitious vascular plants of the Azerbaijani flora in accordance with the existing modern classification and nomenclature.

In connection with the current COVID-19 pandemic, only the electronic version of the first volume of the book “Non-flowering higher plants of Azerbaijan” was published, in which a list of information was published. This volume was prepared for publication by the decision of the Academic Council of the Institute, Head of the Department of Systematics and Biodiversity, PhD in Biology Rashad Salimov, head of the Herbarium Department, PhD in Biology Parvana Garakhani and researcher Zenfira Aliyeva.

The scientific editor of the publication, prepared in accordance with the International Nomenclature Code for Algae, Fungi and Plants (Shenzhen Code, 2018), is ANAS vice-president academician Irada Huseynova, and academician Valida Alizadeh, director of the Institute of Botany, is the responsible editor. The scientific reviewer of the publication is the president of the Missouri Botanical Garden, Dr. Peter Wise Jackson, the reviewers are corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Sergey Mosyakin, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences Svetlana Litvinskaya, corresponding member of ANAS Magsud Gurbanov.

In addition to domestic and foreign experts, the resource is intended for a wide range of readers interested in studying related fields of research and flora of Azerbaijan.

The e-book "Non-flowering higher plants of Azerbaijan" was distributed among the botanists of various leading research institutions of the world.
