On January 19, the next meeting of the Presidium of ANAS was held.
The meeting was attended by the President of ANAS, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev, other members of the Presidium - academicians Arif Hashimov, Ibrahim Guliyev, Dilgam Tagiyev, Irada Huseynova, Rasim Aliguliyev, Jamil Aliyev, Govhar Bakhshalieva, Fikret Aliyev, Adil Garibov, as well as the head of the Presidium of ANAS, Doctor of philosophy in philology, associate professor Seyfal Hasanov, the head of the Secretariat of the President of ANAS, Doctor of philosophy in political sciences Eldar Amirov and relevant persons.
First, at the meeting, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the martyrs on January 20.
Opening the event with an introductory speech, the President of ANAS, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev touched upon a number of issues, including comments on press reports related to the Spelling Dictionary published by the Institute of Linguistics and a number of unpleasant incidents that occurred at the Institute of History.
Then academician Ramiz Mehdiyev informed about the agenda of the meeting.
Next, a report on the scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the Division of Biological and Medical Sciences (DBMS) of ANAS for 2021 was heard.
Presenting the report, Vice-President of ANAS, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the department, academician Irada Huseynova noted that in the reporting year, research on 22 problems, 84 topics, 252 works, 523 stages were carried out in the institutes of the department, 10 works and 376 stages were completed. Out-of-hospital medical institutions conducted research covering 34 problems, 145 topics (20 completed) and 292 works (40 completed), in agricultural scientific and educational institutions continued research on 23 problems, 120 topics (5 completed) and 298 works (21 completed).
According to the academician, in the reporting year, 17 important results were obtained on DBMS, 12 on non-competitive scientific and educational institutions, 4 on sections, 55 on medical institutions and 34 on agricultural branch institutes.
Referring to the publishing activities of the department, the speaker noted that during the reporting period, the institutes of the DBMS published 875 scientific papers, including 16 books (3 abroad), 15 monographs (2 abroad), 426 articles (356 abroad, 120 of them in journals with an impact factor), 418 theses (165 abroad), 2962 references to the work of employees.
She noted that 2,592 scientific works were published by research and educational institutions of medical orientation, including 20 books (4 abroad), 15 monographs, 1,378 articles (525 abroad, 203 of them in journals from the “Web of Science” and “Scopus” databases), 1,179 theses (405 abroad), 2,079 references to scientific works were registered. 763 scientific papers have been published in agricultural institutes abroad, including 53 books, 7 monographs, 627 articles (335-abroad, of which 41 -in journals from the bases “Web of Science” and “Scopus”), 76 theses (28-abroad), 235 references have been made to scientific works.
In her report, the academician also brought to the attention of the participants of the meeting about the ongoing interdisciplinary research on the study of the biodiversity of Karabakh, current biological and environmental situations, prospects for further development, events, meetings at local and international levels, training, integration of science and education, international relations, activities for the development of electronic science, awards, etc.
After hearing the report, academicians Arif Hashimov, Ibrahim Guliyev, Rasim Aliguliyev, Govhar Bakhshaliyeva, Fikret Aliyev and Adil Garibov made speeches.
Then the report was unanimously adopted by the Presidium of ANAS and a number of current issues were discussed.
In conclusion, the President of ANAS, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev emphasized the relevant Decree of the Head of state on increasing salaries to employees of the Presidium of ANAS, the Presidium office, as well as the Ganja branch of ANAS and the scientific center “Azerbaijan National Encyclopedia” and thanked Mr. President Ilham Aliyev for the attention and care of Azerbaijani scientists: “We are confident that the head of state's concern for ANAS will continue in the future.”
