President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), academician Ramiz Mehdiyev has adopted the chairman of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK), Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal.
Welcoming the guest, the president of ANAS drew attention to the cooperation between TUBITAK and the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences since 2013 and noted the great potential for the expansion of this cooperation. Academician Ramiz Mehdiyev noted that in order to further deepen the relations between the two countries in the field of science, mutual visits of scientists should be intensified and joint research carried out. Noting that there are 45 institutes within the National Academy of Sciences, the president of ANAS said that there are great opportunities for cooperation, the joint cooperation of scientists of the two countries can make a great contribution to science. TUBITAK President, Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal said that he came to Baku for the promotion ceremony of the TEKNOFEST Azerbaijan Aerospace and Technology Festival and thanked the president of ANAS for the reception.
Informing the president of ANAS about the festival, Hasan Mandal said that TEKNOFEST has been held in Turkey for the 4th year and this year has been organized in Azerbaijan. According to him, within the framework of the festival to be held in Azerbaijan, 10 competitions will be held. Hasan Mandal drew attention to TEKNOFEST Azerbaijan, a number of ministries and higher education institutions of our country and said that they wish to participate in the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences in a science-oriented festival- TEKNOFEST.
President of ANAS, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev emphasized that our scientists will be pleased to participate in this festival.
The head of TUBITAK also said that there is a high potential in terms of scientific cooperation between the two countries and proposed the creation of a working group with the participation of five scientists from both sides. According to him, this working group can prepare a plan for the cooperation of scientists of the two countries. Noting that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will arrive in Azerbaijan in May and meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Hasan Mandal considered it expedient to prepare and present the cooperation plan to the heads of the country until that time.
The head of TUBITAK also inquired about the results of the project competition, which was held in accordance with the protocol signed between ANAS and TUBITAK during the meeting of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey in 2013 with the joint cooperation of scientists from two countries and said that Turkish scientists are looking forward to the announcement of a new competition.
Acting first Vice-president of ANAS, academician Arif Hashimov reported with the results of the project competition held for the 3rd time in accordance with the aforementioned protocol. He said that expert opinions on the projects are already ready and the results will be announced in the coming days. Arif Hashimov thanked the head of TUBITAK for creating conditions for the use of the million expert base for Azerbaijani scientists, which is an important step in scientific cooperation between the two countries. He said that several Azerbaijani scientists will be included in this database as an expert in the near future.
At the meeting H. Mandal said that soon he will be invited to Turkey to visit TUBITAK the President of ANAS, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev

At the end, the guest was presented a memorable prize on behalf of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
