Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Phylogeny and Biogeography and Department of International Relations of the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Philosophy in Biology, associate professor Ziyoviddin Yusupov and junior researcher ElyorOrtikov are on a business trip to the Institute of Botany of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The purpose of the visit was to sign a memorandum of cooperation with the Institute of Botany, as well as phylogenetic and molecular-systematic research of plants common in the flora of Central Asia, the Caucasus and China.
General Director of the Institute of Botany, Professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva, during the meeting, informed the guests about the institute's scientific-research directions, international relations, implemented projects, and discussed the prospects of establishing cooperation relations. The guests appreciated the scientific activity of the institute and emphasized that there are wide opportunities for mutual staff and experience exchange.
The scientists got acquainted with the departments and laboratories of the Institute. They showed particular interest in the conditions of storage of herbarium specimens of local and foreign flora in the Herbarium Fund and in modern focused work on their inclusion in the European database.
During the visit, a memorandum on scientific research was signed between the Institute of Botany, MSE RA and the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan. According to the memorandum, it is planned to organize joint projects in the field of molecular-systematic research of rare and endemic plants, forest mycology and phylogeny, conduct joint research, exchange experience of personnel, conduct meetings, lectures, symposiums and etc.
At the scientific seminar organized at the Institute of Botany, Z. Yusupov's presentation on the results of research conducted by Uzbek scientists was heard. Extensive discussions were held on the topic.
Joint expeditions with Uzbek scientists were carried out in our country and interesting samples were collected.
