Young scientists of the Institute of Botany of the MSE RA, PhD Aydan Zeynalova and PhD Nigar Mursal, participated in the international seminar "Study of Biodiversity" held in Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan on June 19-26, 2023.

Mursalgizi made a presentation at the seminar on the “Condition of coenopopulations of some rare species distributed in the north-eastern part of the Greater Caucasus”, A. Zeynalova on “Study of the wild pomegranate distributed in Azerbaijan”. The main goal of the event, attended by about 40 young scientists from different countries, was the sharing of scientific innovations between countries, and closer cooperation of young scientists in the future.

During the visit, Azerbaijani young scientists met with Bobozoda Bakohoja Bako, director of the Institute of Botany, Plant Physiology and Genetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan. During the meeting, extensive information was provided about the main scientific directions of the Institute of Botany, international relations, as well as periodical scientific publications “Plant&Fungal Research” and “Azerbaijan Journal of Botany”, and their newly printed issues were presented to the institute. Also, future scientific cooperation between the two institutions was discussed, and a decision was made on a memorandum of understanding.

In addition, within the seminar days, the participants went on an expedition to the Varzob mountain botanical station “Kondara” and the high-mountain biological station “Sikukh”. They became familiar with the flora and vegetation types of those areas.

At the end of the seminar, academician Farhod Rahimi, president of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, presented certificates to young scientists. The academician also talked about the friendly relations between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan and emphasized that they are always ready for mutual scientific exchanges.
