Nazim Mammadov, Professor of the Agricultural School of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, United States of America held a scientific seminar “Man and Medicinal Plants” at the Institute of Botany, MSE RA.
At a seminar organized with the participation of employees of the institute, N. Mammadov gave detailed information about the research of medicinal plants in the world and the difficulties encountered. He noted that there are about 250,000 plants in the world, and although 30,000 of them are considered medicinal plants, most of them have not been studied yet. Speaking about the latest research on medicinal plants in the world, the scientist emphasized that plant-based natural medicinal products are widely used in the healthcare system of many developed countries. He gave an extensive report on the chemical composition and efficacy of medicinal plants used in the treatment of cancer, malaria, depression, mental and a number of diseases.
The topic was very interesting for the participants, and extensive discussions were held around the questions.
