A scientific-practical conference on "Protection and restoration of ecological balance" was held within the framework of “Green World Solidarity Year” organized by the Khazar District Executive Authority, "Dendrology Garden" public legal entity and Zira Cultural Center Eco-Park.
The event held at Zira Cultural Center Eco-Park was attended by Elshan Salahov, the head of Khazar District Executive Power, chairman of the YAP Khazar district organization, Namig Ahmadov, vice-president of the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences of ANAS, professor Irada Huseynova, General Director of the Institute of Botany of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva, executive director, professor Shakir Gasimov, chairman of the Committee of Free Trade Unions, Doctor of Philosophy in Biology, Shakar Mukhtarova, corresponding member of ANAS, doctor of biological sciences Elshad Gurbanov, Director of “Absheron” Experimental Station, professor Jabrayil Agayev, Deputy heads of the District Executive Power, department heads, Samira Bagirova, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of “Dendrology Garden” public legal entity, Officials of the Botanical Garden, heads of departments, enterprises and organizations of the districts.
The event began with a one-minute silence commemorating the dear memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country.
Elshan Salahov, the head of the Khazar Region Executive Power, welcomed the guests and noted that holding a prestigious event such as the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Azerbaijan is another indicator of high trust and confidence in our country, as well as the result of successful cooperation with international organizations.
E. Salahov emphasized that, as in all areas in our country, important work has been done in the direction of solving environmental problems, protecting the environment, and restoring the ecological balance, and at the same time, national programs on ecologically sustainable socio-economic development, restoration and increase of forests have been successfully implemented and spoke about the continuous construction works in this area under the leadership of the President Mr. Ilham Aliyev and the First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, the implementation of international environmental programs, the restoration and protection of natural resources, the creation of national parks and the ecological network.
Speaking at the event, Namig Ahmadov, Irada Huseynova, Sayyara Ibadullayeva, Elshad Gurbanov and Jabrayil Agayev spoke about the importance of declaring 2024 as the “Green World Solidarity Year” in the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the importance of our country hosting the “COP29” event and gave information about the fact that the climate changes occurring in the world do not bypass our country, the important practical steps taken in the direction of solving the environmental problems and the results to be achieved.
After the speeches, an interesting discussion was held among the conference participants.
