The article “Psephellus paucilobus (Asteraceae), a new species to the flora of Azerbaijan” co-authored by professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva, General Director of the Institute of Botany, MSE RA and Head of the Ethnobotany Laboratory, and Associate Professor Elman Yusifov, Head of the Ecology and Geography of Higher Plants Laboratory, and Associate Professor Vugar Karimov was published in “Ботанический Журнал”.
The article contains information about Psephellus paucilobus, a new species for the flora of Azerbaijan. Psephellus paucilobius is a perennial herb. This plant is recorded for the first time for the flora of Azerbaijan in the eastern part of the Greater Caucasus, around Griz-Dahna village of Guba region, in the vegetation of the subalpine zone. During the designation of the species, it was confirmed by specialists as an endemic species of the Caucasus and at the same time as a subendemic species of Azerbaijan, and thus one more species was added to the number of national endemics of Azerbaijan.
It should be noted that this species is on the list of endemic plants of Dagestan.
