Three monographs have been published by the employees of the Geobotany Department of the Institute of Botany, MSERA.
The monograph “Biodiversity of Medicinal Plants of Azerbaijan”, authored by the head of the department, doctor of biological sciences, associate professor Naiba Mehdiyeva, is dedicated to a comprehensive study of the biodiversity of medicinal plants in Azerbaijan.
The work combines the uses and characteristics of medicinal plants, distinguished by their various botanical, therapeutic, pharmacotherapeutic and other properties, distributed in the flora of Azerbaijan. The presented book pays special attention to the perspective directions of searching for new sources of the most demanded biologically active substances and reserves of medicinal raw materials.
The monograph entitled “Current status and prognostic assessment of coenopopulations of some rare and endangered species in the Greater Caucasus” authored by Nigar Mursal, an employee of the department and scientific secretary of the Institute, is dedicated to the study of the current status of coenopopulations of some rare and endangered species in the Greater Caucasus.
The spatial, ontogenetic, demographic, morphometric, and vitality structure of the coenopopulations of the taxa studied in the monograph were studied using classical and modern botanical methods. For the first time, a mathematical computer model was created for the prognostic assessment of the potential development and range of the populations of these taxa and corresponding forecasts were compiled. The scientific editor of both books is professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva.
The monograph “Oak (Quercus L.): Introduction and Acclimatization” by the leading researcher of the department, associate professor Sadig Garayev, is dedicated to the selection of oak species that are promising for use in landscaping in the dry subtropical climate of Absheron and the determination of their cultivation rules.
