A laboratory lesson was conducted for students of Khazar University at the Experimental Botany Department of the Institute of Botany of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The purpose of the lesson, organized for 3rd students in the specialty of biology was to conduct observation and research in laboratory conditions, to introduce them to modern technologies and other innovations, and teach the stages of scientific research.
Fidan Alaskarova, a researcher of the department, explained to the students the methods for determining pH and EC (electrical conductivity) in soil samples collected from the plant rhizosphere, the preparation techniques of various nutrient media required for plant germination, the procedures for measuring seed germination energy and germination percentage, as well as the methods for determining total, protein and non-protein nitrogen in plant samples.
