The book "Flora of Karabakh", dedicated to the glorious Victory by the Institute of Botany, MSERA, has been published.

The book was published with the financial support of the Ministry of Science and Education and the State Agency for Science and Higher Education. The author and editor of the publication is Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva, Director General of the Institute of Botany, MSERA.

The book, consisting of a total of 900 pages, includes 8 maps, 10 tables, and color photographs and illustrations of 300 relict and endemic, including 91 rare plants. The publication includes botanical characteristics and illustrative images of more than 2,000 higher plants, more than 400 species of fungi, mosses, and lichens native to Karabakh.

For the first time since its establishment, the Institute of Botany has published such a book about the flora of Karabakh in Azerbaijan.

It should be noted that after the glorious Victory in the Patriotic War, extensive research was carried out in the territory of Karabakh by the leadership and employees of the Institute of Botany. Rare, endemic, medicinal plants, mosses and algae samples distributed in the territory of Karabakh were studied, and ethnobotanical research was conducted. The results of those scientific studies were reflected in the book “Flora of Karabakh”.

During the expeditions, booklets and brochures titled "Use of Medicinal Plants Widespread in the Flora of Karabakh" about plants used in folk medicine, veterinary medicine, poultry farming and beekeeping, developed and edited by Professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva as a contribution to the implementation of the First State Program on the "Great Return", were distributed to local communities that returned to their ancestral lands. Also, the "Information Book on Rare and Endangered Species of Karabakh" was presented to municipalities, schools, and local communities.

A round table on the topic "Study of the Biodiversity of Eastern Zangazur and Karabakh" was held with local communities in Lachin city and Zabukh village, Zangilan city and Aghali village, and Shusha city, organized by the Institute of Botany, dedicated to the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World".

Also, at the international conference "Problems and Solutions in the Flora of the Lowlands of Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur" organized by the Institute of Botany and dedicated to COP29, the results of research conducted by scientists of this scientific institution in the lowlands of Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur were brought to the attention of a wide audience.
