Today, an event dedicated to “September 27 – Remembrance Day” was held at the Institute of Botany, MSERA. Members of the Sabail district organization of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), veterans, the Institute’s management and staff participated in the event.

First, the memory of our martyrs who died for the freedom of our homeland was commemorated with a minute of silence, then the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed. A video clip prepared as a sign of respect for the souls of the martyrs of the Patriotic War was presented to the attention of the event participants.

Opening the event with an introductory speech, the Institute’s General Director, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva wished God’s mercy to our martyrs and patience to their families. She evaluated the 44-day Patriotic War as a war of liberation and noted that our lands were liberated from occupation under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief at the cost of the blood and lives of our heroic martyrs and veterans. The Patriotic War is our glorious history, and martyrs and veterans are our source of pride. S. Ibadullayeva emphasized that the Remembrance Day, established by the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated December 2, 2020, is an expression of deep respect for the heroes of the Patriotic War.

The professor emphasized that the newly published book “Flora of Karabakh” is dedicated to the Glorious Victory of Karabakh, and on behalf of botanists, expressed her deep respect to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, his victorious army, and our martyrs and veterans who wrote history with their red blood.

Later, the chairman of the Sabail district organization of the YAP, Mukhtar Naghiyev, spoke about the heroism shown by our glorious Army under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev during the 44-day Patriotic War. He noted that the Azerbaijani people united as one fist and liberated their lands from occupation. In his speech, Mukhtar Naghiyev emphasized the importance of the memorial event organized at the Institute of Botany, MSERA saying that this initiative is of great importance in terms of not forgetting the war sacrifices and promoting the values of independence.

Veterans of the Patriotic War Salman Khudaverdiyev, Rashad Aslanov, Ramin Shirinov, Kanan Guliyev, Asgar Ahmadov, and Gafar Mammadaliyev spoke about their path in the war and the courage of their fellow soldiers with whom they fought shoulder to shoulder. Today, they expressed their gratitude to the Institute’s leadership for the attention and care shown to them.

The event continued with ehsan dinner organized in connection with the Remembrance Day.

Finally, the Institute’s staff visited the Second Alley of Martyrs to honor the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and laid flowers at their graves.
