Today, a seminar dedicated to the “World Day for Decent Work” was held at the Institute of Botany, MSERA, within the framework of the “Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty.”
Opening the seminar, the General Director of the Institute of Botany, MSERA, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva, spoke about the essence of the World Day for Decent Work, the measures taken in our country to ensure decent working conditions, and the regulations applied in the organization of labor. The professor also drew attention to the effective working environment created for the Institute’s employees and the tasks ahead in this area. She noted that October 7 – World Day for Decent Work holds particular importance as a key component of the social policy implemented in our country.
The Chairwoman of the Institute's Trade Union Committee, Doctor of Philosophy in Biology, Associate Professor Shakar Mukhtarova, stated that every year on October 7, the World Day for Decent Work is celebrated, and that this initiative was first introduced by the International Trade Union Confederation in 2008. She emphasized that ensuring every citizen has a decent place to live and work is one of the main priorities of the country’s socio-economic development strategy. This includes all aspects — from decent income and working conditions to equality among employees, dialogue between employers and workers, the protection of labor rights, and access to promised social protection.
At the seminar, lawyer Araz Allahverdiyev spoke on the topic of the World Day for Decent Work. To ensure employees’ rights to safe and healthy working conditions, he drew attention to the norms and standards established in the Labor Code and other regulatory legal acts, as well as in collective agreements and employment contracts.
Finally, employees’ questions were answered, and detailed explanations were provided.
