A fundamental publication entitled “Taxonomic Spectrum of Higher Spore-Bearing and Seed Plants of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur” has been published by the Institute of Botany PLE. The book was recommended for publication by Decision No. 10 of the Institute’s Scientific Council, dated December 25, 2025, and covers the flora of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur. Nearly 2,000 species of higher spore-bearing and seed plants have been recorded in the region, representing more than 45% of Azerbaijan’s flora. The 316-page volume presents information on the plants’ bioecological characteristics, taxonomic structure, and distribution patterns.
The scientific editor of the publication is professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva. The editors are prof. Aydin Asgarov and assoc. prof. Parvana Garakhani, the reviewers are academician Tariyel Talibov and prof. Munir Ozturk.
The book was prepared with the participation of the Institute’s staff members, including professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva; Associate Professors Nuri Movsumova, Gulnara Shiraliyeva, Nigar Mursal, and Arzu Huseynova; PhD in Biology Samira Khudaverdiyeva; and doctoral student Sabina Hajiyeva.
The book can serve as an important scientific reference source for future research on the flora of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur.
