The strategic partnership and brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are also successfully developing in the field of science and education. The atmosphere of mutual trust and cooperation creates opportunities for expanding ties between scientific institutions, conducting joint research, and exchanging experience.

 

These views were expressed by Professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva, acting director of the Institute of Botany PLE under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

 

The professor noted that the strong interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have also created favorable conditions for the development of scientific cooperation. Within the framework of the long-standing cooperation between the Institute of Botany PLE and Uzbekistan's scientific-research institutions, expanding joint research as well as the exchange of scientific experience and information is of particular importance. This cooperation is expected to be further developed in the future in the fields of botany, biodiversity conservation, and the study of plant resources. The cooperation covers botany, microbiology, biodiversity studies, medicinal plants, and other related scientific fields. Within this framework, work is being carried out on conducting joint research, exchanging scientific information and experience, involving young scientists and doctoral students in cooperation, as well as preparing joint scientific publications.

In order to strengthen the institutional foundations of the cooperation, a memorandum of understanding covering 2022–2027 was signed between the Institute of Botany PLE and the Institute of Microbiology of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan; a memorandum of understanding covering 2023–2028 was signed with the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan; and a memorandum of understanding covering 2025–2030 was signed with the Scientific-Production Center for the Cultivation and Processing of Medicinal Plants of the Republic of Uzbekistan. These documents provide the basis for regular cooperation between the parties aimed at expanding scientific ties and carrying out joint research. Online meetings are held between the parties to organize joint research, determine tasks to be carried out, and discuss scientific issues of mutual interest.
