Basic scientific achievements

 

Complex investigation of oxygen – evolving system by measurement of oxygen evolution kinetics, cooperative activity of photosystems and molecular structural organization of primary and aggregated into  granae thylokoids of chloroplasts.

Damage mechanism of function and organization of  Photosystem II by heavy metals and superoxides and their productants, defense action of natural and synthetic protectors.

The structure of primary thylakoids has active centers of photosystem I and photosystem II and latent H2O-Z component which after some minutes of greening under normal illumination is closing up with photosystem II center. Oxygen evolution is observed after 15-20 min greening and has 3 type induction curves. The including of all forms of chlorophyll b and a into reactions connected with oxygen evolution on this phase of oxygen-evolving protein complex of thylakoids was shown. An accumulation of cooperation activity of photosystems is connected with chloplast granal system formation and formation of light-harvesting chlorophyll-protein complex.

The damage sites by heavy metals supramolecular water-oxidizing complex, connected with water breaking down established target on donor side of complex for Cd2+,Ni2+ and Co2+ on dependence from pH are Yz or CaMn-cluster on acceptor side for Zn2+,Al3+,Mn2+ and Cosite between QA and QB. The stabilization of thylakoid membrane, damaged by salnization, heavy metals and oxidative stress,caused by photoinhibition and methylviologen action was protected by natural antioxidants.
