On July 20, ANAS Institute of Botany held an event on the occasion of July 22 - National Press Day.

     First, the Press Council and the Sputnik International News Agency and Radio Representatives visited the bust Hasan bey Zardabi, the founder of our national press, in the yard of Institute of Botany and laid a wreath on it.

    Speaking at the event, chairman of the Azerbaijani Press Council, MP Aflatun Amashov spoke about the difficult and glorious way our press passing 143 years and congratulated journalists on a remarkable day.

     Speaking about the role of the newspaper "Ekinchi" in the history of public opinion of Azerbaijan, Amashov said that this publication, which had 56 issues, has given a great impetus to the emergence of national newspapers. He said that the ideas of "Ekinchi" were found in well-known publications of the period such as "Kashkul", "Ziya", "Kaspi", "East-Russian", "Molla Nasreddin". Through these presses, the struggle for the nation's cultural progress has been increased.

     Head of Sputnik International News Agency and Radio Aziz Aliyev, emphasized the importance and care of freedom of expression and press in the media and mass media in Azerbaijan. He congratulated the participants on the occasion of the 143th anniversary of the national press and expressed his satisfaction with the protection of Zardabi's education line.

    Representatives of television, newspapers and information agencies, including the science.az portal and Elm TV, also attended the ceremony.
