An open lesson was held at the Institute of Botany of ANAS for IX grade student of the lyceum named after academician Zarifa Aliyeva under the guidance of Natalia Gurbanova in Baku.
Dr. Shakar Muradova, Head of Laboratory of Algology and Lichenobriology delivered her lecture on the plant diversity, Red Book of Azerbaijan and endemic plants in order to increase interest to biology subject.
The students got wide information about endemic and rare plants of Azerbaijan flora, medicinal plants and their habitats, importance and conservation problems.
Dr. Parvana Garakhani gave broad information about rich plant diversity of Azerbaijan and the role of Herbarium Foundation of the Institute in their conservation and study. Updated herbarium collection on mycology and algology, exhibition “Green Treasure of Azerbaijan” and interactive map reflecting some relict tree species of Hyrcanian forests demonstrated in the Museum of Botany arouse great interest in students.
