Director of the Institute of Botany of ANAS, academician Valida Alizade, president of Society of Azerbaijan Botanists, ANAS professor, Dr. Dilzara Agayeva and Dr. Kamala Asadova participated in the Congress jointly organized by Italian Botanical Society and the Italian Society for Plant Biology in Padova, Italy. Numerous presentations with modern approaches in the field of plant systematics, taxonomy, physiology and biochemistry were delivered in the congress devoted to topical issues of modern biology.
Presentations “Morphological and molecular identification of native grasses of Guba and Gusar regions of Azerbaijan” by academician Valida Alizade, “Molecular and morphological characterization of the fungus bark of Castanea sativa in Azerbaijan” by Dr. Dilzara Agayeva and “Transformation of floral composition and vegetation of the Caspian Sea coast in Azerbaijan” by Dr. Kamalya Asadova were made.
During the visit academician Valida Alizade met Prof. Dr. Barbara Baldan, Director of Padova Botanical Garden, which is the oldest garden created in 1545 and included to the National Heritage List of UNESCO in 1997. They dicussed the possibility of training of specialists here in future. Discussions were continued with Milan University prof. Sara Vitalini on the study of biochemical composition of medicinal plants and opportunities for the analysis of the influence of obtained extract to life quality. The importance of developing relations based on the bilateral Memorandum signed between Italy and Azerbaijan ANAS is highlighted.
