Recent changes in the structure of ANAS, the expansion of measures to integrate the country's science into the international arena, the organization of discussions on the solution of existing problems, in particular, the implementation of scientific achievements in the economy of the country, set serious tasks for scientists.
Lankaran Regional Scientific Center of ANAS is taking important measures to establish its activities in a new direction. One of the main scientific topics of the Center is tea-growing and citrus, which are characteristic of the Lankaran region. It is known that President Ilham Aliyev has made a number of important decisions in recent years regarding the development of the non-oil sector and important measures have been taken in line with these decisions. During the General Meeting of the Presidium of ANAS on December 11, 2019 and in a meeting with the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov and the Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov, the President of ANAS, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev said that the actively join and support the reform and renewal line put by country’s head is the moral duty of every citizen, especially of our scientists.
The application of recent scientific results to the country's economy has given impetus to further development of tea growing in the country. This is evidenced by the successful registration of four high-qualified tea varieties in 2019 based on a study conducted by the Lankaran Regional Scientific Center of the ANAS jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture's Fruit and Teaching Research Institute.
The work carried out by the Scientific Center is aimed at the practical application of scientific results in farms. The director of the center, Professor Farman Guliyev, said that in February a limited amount of heavy pruning was carried out on the tea plantation.
