Within the framework of the “Science Day” an online seminar on the topic “Actual problems of botanical science” was held at the Institute of Botany of ANAS. Speaking at the event, the director of the Institute, academician Valida Alizade congratulated the participants on the significant and historical day. V. Alizade drew attention to the Order of the President of the country, Mr. Ilham Aliyev dated April 9, 2018 on the organization of Science Day in Azerbaijan and the high value given to science in Azerbaijan. She also gave information about the importance of modern scientific research conducted at the Institute of Botany, and strategically important research in the field of conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity, in generally, stressed the importance of innovative activities in the development of botany. Then the deputy director for scientific affairs of the Institute, professor Eldar Novruzov gave a lecture on “Plant resources of Karabakh and prospects of their use”, Dr. Dilzara Agayeva “Fungal pathogens, invasions and biosafety”, Dr. Parvana Garakhani “Study of Karabakh’s flora”, Dr. Rashad Salimov “Development of the electronic flora of modern Azerbaijan”. At the end of the lectures, broad discussions were held around the issues of interest. They also shared their views on a number of research issues to be carried out on the study of flora in Karabakh.
