The Institute of Botany of ANAS held an online event dedicated to the Victory Day on November 8. Director of the Institute, Prof.SayyaraIbadullayeva opened the event with an introductory speech and congratulated the staff on the occasion of Victory Day.She said that the 44-day Patriotic War, which resulted in the liberation of our occupied territories, is the most glorious page in our history. The victorious people of Azerbaijan united closely around the President of Azerbaijan, Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief IlhamAliyev and demonstrated their strength, courage and struggle to the whole world.

The liberation of Shusha, the eye of Karabakh, on November 8 played a decisive role in the fate of the war and led to the cessation of hostilities.The scientist stressed that during the occupation of our lands, they were comprehensively exploited by Armenian vandals, and their flora and fauna were destroyed. In the future, the organization of expeditions to these areas, the study of plant diversity in the region should be one of the main directions of the Institute of Botany.

Scientific Secretary of the Institute, associate professor KhuramanKhalilova, Dr.DilzaraAgayeva and the chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists, AydanZeynalova spoke about the historical significance of our great victory. They said that this victory was achieved due to the far-sighted policy of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief IlhamAliyev, the courage of the sons of Azerbaijan and the unity of our people.

At the end of the event, a video dedicated to Victory Day was demonstrated.

On the occasion of the anniversary of the Victory Day, a volunteer clean-upwas organized at the Institute. During the clean-up, the staff took care of the trees, cleared the area of dry grass and waste.
