On December 1, the regular meeting of the Scientific Council was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies. First, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the servicemen who died as a result of the crash of a military helicopter of the State Border Service on November 30, 2021, during training flights at the "Garaheybat" airfield in the Khizi region.

Opening the meeting, Director General of the Institute, Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Irada Huseynova congratulated the head of the laboratory of "Cell Membrane Systems", Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Saftar Suleymanov on the occasion of his 70th anniversary and presented him with the Honorary Decree of the Institute. Director-General of the Institute of Botany Sayyara Ibadullayeva and Director-General of the Central Botanical Garden Natig Allahverdiyev congratulated the jubilee on behalf of the staff of their institutes. Then the current issues on the agenda of the meeting - annual reports of Plant Biotechnology, Bioinformatics Laboratories, International Laboratory of Computational Structural Biology, and the Department of International and Public Relations were heard. Head of Plant Biotechnology Laboratory b.ü.f.d. Tofig Garagozov reported on “Study of solutions to the problems of agriculture, human health, industry, protection and efficient use of natural ecosystems through the cell and molecular biotechnologies”, Head of Bioinformatics Laboratory, Corresponding Member of ANAS Ilham Shahmuradov reported on “Study of Functional organization of human, some animal and plant genomes”, Head of the International Laboratory of Computational Structural Biology, Ph.D. Garib Murshudov reported on "Statistical analysis and validation of three-dimensional structural models of macromolecules", and they gave detailed information about the research work carried out in laboratories in 2021, participation in conferences and seminars, important results obtained, printing work, staff training. Minakhanim Aliyeva, Head of the International and Public Relations Department, informed the council members about the number of visits to the Institute's website "imbb.az" by country and months this year, statistics of information posted in the news section of the site, media coverage of the Institute's activities.

Extensive discussions were held and a decision was made to accept the reports.
