Information on the structure of kariz systems in different regions of Azerbaijan, the history of drilling, environmental features, water quality and consumption is also reflected in the monograph. The publication is of great scientific importance in the study of the 4,000-year-old kariz in the areas along the Silk Road. It should be noted that the corresponding member of ANAS Alovsat Guliyev has been a member of the UNESCO interstate board on “Ancient hydraulic systems – kariz” since 2005. He is currently studying kariz systems in Azerbaijan and Central Asian republics (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan).
