The next meeting of the Presidium of ANAS was held on January 12.
The meetingwas attended by the President of ANAS, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev, other members of the Presidium, academicians - Arif Hashimov, Dilgam Tagiyev, Irada Huseynova, Rasim Alguliyev, Govhar Bakhshaliyeva, Fikret Aliyev, Adil Garibov, Ismayil Hajiyev, Fuad Aliyev, as well as the head of the Presidium apparatus of ANAS, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Associate Professor Seyfal Hasanov and relevant persons.
The meeting was opened by academician Ramiz Mehdiyev, President of ANAS.
The report on the scientific and scientific-organizational activity of the Department of Chemical Sciences of ANAS for 2021 was heard at the meeting. Presenting the report, the vice-president of ANAS, chairman of the Scientific Council of the department, academician Dilgam Tagiyev noted that researches on 42 topics and 118 cases covering 12 problems and 66 cases completed at the institutes of the department in 2021.
The academician said that 22 important scientific results in the field of fundamental and applied scientific researches were obtained in the scientific institutions of the Department of Chemical Sciences of ANAS and other scientific and educational institutions in the field of chemical sciences of the republic. He also noted that four applied works proposed by the institutes of the department were tested in different organizations and positive results were achieved. Presenting some of these works, academician Taghiyevnoted that “Karabakh-4” plant growth stimulator was applied in 4 hectares of nursery area of Tartar region and it was found that the root system and stem of plants developed with a big difference. In particular, in order to increase the resistance of white cast iron used in the manufacture of the working part of the shafts to torsion and breakage, cast iron alloyed with transition metals was purchased from “Baku Steel Company” LLC. In addition, he noted that the complex organic-mineral fertilizer based on local raw materials is applied in the cotton field in Saatli region.
He also noted that during the reporting period, 21 monographs, books and textbooks prepared by employees of the institutes of the department have been published, 841 articles and theses (474 abroad) printed, 259 articles published in “Web of Science” and “Scopus” journals, 64 articles were placed in groups Q1-Q4 of the Clarivate Analytics database. Academician Dilgam Tagiyev also said that “Azerbaijan Chemical Journal” and “Chemical Problems” published in English at the Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry named after Academician M. Nagiyev were included in the Scopus database.
In his speech, the scientist stressed that 38 Azerbaijan and 2 Eurasian patents, as well as 6 grants were received andpresented the relations between the institutes and educational institutions of the department, international scientific relations, awards and prizes and other information to the meeting participants through a slide.
After hearing the report, extensive discussions were held around the speech. Speaking on the topic, Chief of the Scientific-Organizational Department of the Presidium of ANAS, Doctor of Philosophy in Physics, Associate Professor RustamRustamov noted that the report was checked by the employees of the department and was satisfactory.
Then the report was accepted by the Presidium of ANAS and relevant recommendations were given.
Another issue on the agenda of the meeting was the scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the Ganja Branch of ANAS for 2021. Chairman of the department, academician FuadAliyev, who submitted the report via online link, said that in scientific institutions of the organization scientific-research workshave been carried out on the basis of the “Development program of ANAS for 2020-2025”, “Development doctrine of Azerbaijan science”, Provisions approved by the General Meeting of ANAS and State programs.
He said that 30 research works on 23 topics related to 13 problems were carried out in the institutes of the department in the reporting year, 14 cases and 41 stages were completed, 1 patent and 7 important results were obtained. He noted that 7 books, 4 monographs, 2 textbooks, 92 articles (31 abroad), 75 theses (17 abroad) were published by the employees of Ganja Branch in 2021, the works of the employees of the department were referred to 198 times in international scientific databases.
Presenting the important results of the department, the scientist noted that in order to clean Naftalan oil and waste from carcinogenic compounds, new adsorbents based on local materials - bentonite-zeolite have been prepared and their adsorption properties have been studied. He also noted that optimal quality composite material was obtained from polyethylene waste, which can be used for technical purposes, and gypsum from the Yukhari Agjakend field. At the same time, he noted that distribution of 56 species of moss belonging to 15 families and 30 genera have been identified in the Korchay State Nature Reserve.
The scientist also noted the work done in the framework of the “Year of Nizami Ganjavi” and other information.
After hearing the report, discussions were held around the speech and the report was adopted by the decision of the Presidium, relevant decisions were made.
A number of staffing issues were discussed at the event. By the decision of the Presidium of ANAS the Human Resources and Internal Audit and Control Departments of the Presidium Apparatus were merged and NatigMehdiyev, a participant of the First Karabakh War, was appointed head of that department and Igbal Gahramanov- the head of the Special Department.
The meeting also approved a plan of scientific and scientific-organizational events at the international and national levels in 2022.
Academicians - Arif Hashimov, Irada Huseynova, Rasim Alguliyev, Fikret Aliyev and Adil Garibov spoke at the meeting and voiced their views and suggestions around the mentioned topics.
At the end, the President of ANAS, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev gave relevant instructions on giving priority to applied works that will contribute to the economy of Azerbaijan, strengthening work in the field of coordination of scientific research in the republic and other issues.
