Six years have passed since the death of the great scientist and socio-political figure, academician Jalal Aliyev, who made invaluable contributions to the creation of modern trends in biological science and numerous high-yielding varieties in Azerbaijan.

On this occasion, employees of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of ANAS and the Research Institute of Crop Husbandryof the Ministry of Agriculture, representatives of the scientific school of Jalal Aliyev visited his grave in the Alley of Honor, laid wreaths and flowers on his grave and shared warm memories of their teachers.

Vice-President of ANAS, General Director of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, academician Irada Huseynova spoke about the life and scientific activity of academician Jalal Aliyev, his contributions to Azerbaijani and world science and stressed that his scientific results on photosynthesis have been successfully applied in many countries around the world. She noted that the fields of molecular biology, molecular genetics, mathematical biology, bioinformatics, gene and cell biotechnology, genetic engineering, which are among the modern directions of biology, were developed for the first time in Azerbaijani science thanks to Jalal Aliyev's foresight and purposeful activities and under his leadership, a strong personnel base of these sciences was formed.As a result of his initiative, for the first time in our country, many theoretical and practical problems of biology and agriculture were solved using mathematical methods, information and computer technologies.

Academician Jalal Aliyev, who had unparalleled services in the recognition, promotion and establishment of relations with international scientific organizations in the world, was also a courageous person who was able to speak on behalf of the people and statehood.
