General director of ANAS Institute of Botany, doctor of biological sciences professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva, PhD in biology Nuri Movsumova and researcher Shabnam Isayeva participated in the seminar held within the framework of the GEF Project "Soil Degradation Neutrality in Azerbaijan (GCP/AZE/020/GFF)" jointly with the FAO Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan. The selection of pilot areas under the Project, project components and work plan, gender action plan, etc. were discussed at the seminar, as well as the UN Food and Agriculture Organization's (FAO) Land Degradation Neutrality projects were discussed. The purpose of the project is to support national efforts to develop and implement national goals for Land Degradation Neutrality, demonstrate Sustainable Land Management in the Absheron Peninsula and surrounding areas (Siyazan, Gobustan), contribute to the rehabilitation of degraded lands and increase the sustainability of livelihoods. Since the restoration of biodiversity is envisaged in the project, the importance of applying to botanists was also mentioned in the seminar.
