The monograph "Physiological bases of drought resistance of wheat" co-authored by the vice-president of ANAS, academician Irada Huseynova and doctor of biological sciences Tofig Allahverdiyev was published.
The monograph published by Qanun Publishing House studies the effects of drought stress on morphological, physiological and agronomic indicators of local and introduced hard (introduced Triticum durum Desf.) And soft (Triticum aestivum L.) wheat genotypes, high productivity and physiological resistance to drought under drought stress and to determine the physiological basis of agronomic traits.
The scientific editor of the monograph is doctor of biological sciences, professor Saftar Suleymanov, the reviewers are corresponding member of ANAS Zeynal Akparov and doctor of biological sciences, associate professor Shahniyar Bayramov. Numerous studies conducted by the authors have studied plant growth and development, leaf-gas exchange, water regime, photosynthetic pigments, formation of assimilation area of surface organs and accumulation and remobilization of dry matter in these organs, productivity and crop components under irrigated and drought stress. The relationship between physiological processes and productivity has been clarified. The work identifies the characteristics of high productivity and drought tolerance, and classifies wheat genotypes according to their susceptibility and resistance to drought. The elegantly published monograph is useful for researchers working in the field of plant physiology, biochemistry and selection, and can also be used as a teaching aid in the relevant departments of higher education.
