Academician Arif Hashimov met with a group of foreign scientists who visited to Azerbaijan

On May 25,Acting  President of ANAS, academician Arif Hashimov met with a group of foreign scientists who visited to Azerbaijan within the framework of the 13th International Conference on Thermal Engineering held in Baku.

The meeting was attended by academician Arif Hashimov, head of the Scientific- organizational Department of the Presidium of ANAS, PhD in Physics, associate professor Rustam Rustamov, head of the Department of International Scientific Cooperation, PhD in biology, associate professor Esmira Alirzayeva and head of the Information Department, PhD in philology Aghahuseyn Shukurov.

Professor of Lorraine University of France Mohammed El Ganaoui, professor of Lille University of France Ali Zaoui, associate professor of University of Limoges of France Helene Ageorges, professor of Academy of Science and Technology of Morocco Abdelilah Benyoussef, head of Department of MAScİR Foundation of Morocco Zouheir Sekkat and employee of University of Casablanca of Morocco Maha Ayache attended the meeting.

Speaking at the event, academician Arif Hashimov welcomed the guests and said that he was pleased to see them in ANAS and informed them about the history and achievements of the Academy. He noted that the National Academy of Sciences was established in 1945, in the same year 15 of its founders were elected academician and Mirasadulla Mirgasimov was the first president of the Academy. Noting that over the past period ANAS has trained the most prominent scientists of both Azerbaijan and the former USSR, academician Arif Hashimov noted that today the Academy of Sciences has Divisions of Physics, Mathematics and Technology, Chemistry, Earth, Biology and Medicine, Humanities and Social Sciences. He noted that in accordance with the global challenges and modern development trends, climate change, environmental health, water resources, efficient use of sustainable energy sources, petrochemicals, flora and fauna of Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus, as well as the language, history, literature, manuscripts and so on aid important studies are conducted. He also emphasized that the world's first oil in the open sea was extracted in Oil Rocks in the Caspian Sea and scientists of ANAS took an active part in the geological exploration of these wells and others.

Academician Arif Hashimov, noting that he got acquainted with the materials of the event on the topic “The 13th International Conference on Thermal Engineering: theory and application”, held with the joint organization of Baku Engineering University and Ryerson University of Canada, noted that a number of studies on topics included in the conference are being conducted at ANAS and stressed the importance of compiling a joint program of cooperation in these areas. He said that the preparation of the document on cooperation will contribute to the organization of joint conferences and seminars, staff training and student exchange in the future.

In addition, this year ANAS organized an international conference with the participation of scientists from Turkey, Iran, Spain, Bulgaria, Romania, Norway and other countries and invited guests to the event.

Then professor of the Lorraine University Mohammed El Ganaoui thanked for the invitation and introduced his colleagues to the representatives of ANAS. Speaking about the importance of cooperation with the Academy M.Ganaoui said the meeting would play a special role in taking joint steps towards the future and said the discussions would yield positive results. He also emphasized that they are ready to cooperate in the field of joint training of personnel, increasing the level of knowledge of doctoral students, organization of summer schools.

M.Ganaoui also spoke about his participation at the 13th International Conference on Thermal Engineering and shared his views on the research he planned for the event.

At the meeting, professor of the Moroccan Academy of Science and Technology Abdelilah Benyoussef, head of the Department of Morocco's MAScİR Foundation Zouheir Sekkat, employee of University of Casablanca Maha Ayache, professor of Lille University Ali Zaoui and associate professor of Limoges University Helene Ageorges informed the leadership of ANAS about their organizations and researches.

The speeches highlighted cooperation in climate change, quantum physics, nanomaterials, nanotechnology, optics, photonics and other areas.

Head of the Department of International Scientific Cooperation of the Presidium of ANAS, PhD in biology, associate professor Esmira Alirzayeva informed about the doctoral program and staff training carried out jointly by the Academy and Montpellier University of France.
