A report meeting was held on the scientific and scientific-organizational activity of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Botany in 2022

At the meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Botany of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the results of the institute's scientific and organizational activities in 2022 were discussed.

Academician Irada Huseynova, vice-president of ANAS, presiding over the meeting, gave the speech to the general director of the institute, doctor of biological sciences, professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva, to present the report on the scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the Institute of Botany for 2022.

Sayyara Ibadullayeva reported that research conducted at the Institute of Botany is carried out based on the decrees and orders of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the decisions and demands of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as tasks in the State programs. She noted that scientific-research works were carried out on 44 stages of 16 works covering 9 topics within 2 problems corresponding to 2 directions according to the subject plan of the institute's scientific-research works, and noted that 14 essential results were achieved.

The speaker drew attention to the publishing activity and noted that 128 scientific works, 1 monograph, 2 book chapters (abroad), 72 articles (37 abroad) and 51 theses (14 abroad) were published by the institute in the reporting year, and 361 works of employees were published in the current year.

The professor noted that in the current year, essays, maps and pictures for 443 species were prepared for the third edition of the "Red Book" of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as researches were conducted on the inspection of herbarium specimens of Karabakh flora, the creation of databases and electronic catalogs. In 2022, for the first time, expeditions were organized to Shusha, Zangilan, Lachin, Kalbajar, Fuzuli, Jabrayil regions, and Topkhana forest was inspected. 11,700 herbarium copies of Karabakh have been digitized and listed. The director general said that currently 4 local and 2 international databases serve to improve and strengthen the information provision system of science at the Institute of Botany. The institute publishes 2 magazines, each twice a year.

 

The speaker then spoke in detail about personnel training, master's, doctoral and dissertation education, relations with higher schools, integration of science and education, the state of electronic science, international relations, work on projects, scientific visits to foreign countries, local and international level conferences and other events. At the end, relevant information about the works, material and technical equipment and social issues was presented at the base stations of the institute.

Later, extensive discussions were held around the report, and questions addressed to the speaker were answered in detail.

Corresponding members of ANAS, Magsud Gurbanov, Elshad Gurbanov, doctor of biological sciences, professor Eldar Novruzov, Aydin Askerov, PhD in biology, Aladdin Gadimov, PhD in biology Rashad Salimov, spoke about the work done and expressed their views on future plans.

In the end, Academician Irada Huseynova concluded the discussions and gave her tasks and recommendations on a number of issues and positively assessed the activity of the institute.
