Associate Professor, PhD in biology Rashad Salimov, Head of the Laboratory of Systematics and Geography of Higher Plants of the Botany Institute of the Ministry of Science and Education of AR, was on a scientific mission in Tashkent, the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The visit took place on the basis of the official invitation of Prof. Dr. Khabibullo Fayzulloyevich Shomurodov, the general director of the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the support of the Botany Institute of the Ministry of Science and Education of AR

Within the framework of the visit, the scientist got acquainted closely with the scientific-research works conducted in the laboratories of the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as with the National Herbarium of Uzbekistan and herbarium specimens of the Lamiaceae family kept there. During the meeting with Academician Komiljon Tojibayev, head of the laboratory of flora of Uzbekistan, and Dr. Ziyaddin Yusupov, head of the laboratory of molecular phylogeny and biogeography, R.Salimov gave detailed information about the research conducted in the Systematics and Biodiversity Department of the Institute of Botany, as well as in the Systematics and Geography Laboratory of Higher Plants.

During the meeting, within the framework of the bilateral relations between the two countries, which will be strengthened at various levels in 2023, conducting new research in the direction of studying plant diversity in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, implementing joint research and useful projects, strengthening scientific relations between institutes, exchanging experience of young researchers, etc. possibilities were discussed.
