Employees of the Ethnobotany Department at the Botanical Institute of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited Agsu region on an expedition.
The main goal was to study the current state of forest ecosystems and Tugai forest vegetation, and research early spring plants.
More than 40 trees, bushes and herbs of medicinal and nutritional importance were recorded during the research conducted in Kalva, Khatman, Dilman and Hajiman villages of Agsu region. 48 herbarium specimens belonging to 11 families of early spring plants were collected, GPS coordinates of some localities were taken and the status of their populations was studied.

It has been determined that in the investigated forest areas, Mistletoe plant (Viscum album L.) is widespread. Although mistletoe is considered important as a medicinal and rubber plant, it is a serious threat to forest areas. This semi-parasitic plant destroys trees by spreading widely.
