Employees of the Department of Biomorphology and Phytointroduction of the Institute of Botany, MSE RA, PhDs in biology Yusif Zeynalov, Eldar Aliyev, Gulnar Gasimova, Elmira Safarova and scientific worker Shabnam Isayeva were on an expedition in Ismayilli district.
The purpose of the expedition was to carry out phytocenological research in forest ecosystems in the autumn season, to study the introduction of some rare plant species included in the "Red Book" of the Azerbaijan flora in culture conditions, and at the same time to collect seeds and planting material for the creation of a collection at the "Karrar" Experiment Base Station.
Model plots were selected and phenological observations, species composition and structure of the coenoses were studied there. The abundance, height of plants that have finished their vegetation period and are in the flowering and fruiting phase, density of grass plants and other indicators were determined and included in phytocenological blanks. Herbarium samples of the species found in the coenosis were collected.
