The “Azerbaijan Journal of Botany” published by the Society of Azerbaijan Botanists Public Union (SABPU) has been included in the list of the scientific periodicals recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission (HAC) under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. General Director of the Institute of Botany, doctor of biological sciences, professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva is the editor-in-chief of the journal.

The journal which covers researches in all fields of biology including botany, geobotany, floristics, systematics, taxonomy, algology, lichen-bryology, mycology, phytocenology, ethnobotany, introduction, plant physiology, biological resources, medicinal and aromatic plants, phytotherapy, pharmacognosy, acquisition of biologically active substances and genetics is published twice a year in three languages.
