A cooperation agreement was signed between the Institute of Botany and the Chinese Academy of Sciences

On December 22-25, 2023, a delegation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences visited the Institute of Botany. The purpose of the visit was to sign a memorandum of cooperation between the Institute of Botany and the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the CAS.

Prof. Zhang Yuanming, Director General of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, CAS; Dr. Qiao Jianfang, Head of the Department of International Cooperation, Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, CAS; Prof. Li Yaoming, Head of the Department of Green Silk Road Development, Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, CAS; Prof. Bai Chunli, Institute of Chemistry, CAS; Dr. Li Zhangwei, Institute of Chemistry, CAS visited the Institute.

 

The meeting was attended by professors, doctors of science and PhD students. The general director of the Institute of Botany, Dr., professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva, informed the guests about the institute’s scientific research directions, international relations, implemented joint projects and achieved achievements. Chinese scientists appreciated the prospects of cooperation and emphasized the importance of expanding scientific relations.

A memorandum on cooperation was signed between the Institute of Botany of the MSE RA and the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the CAS. The memorandum was signed by Dr., professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva, General Director of the Institute of Botany, and professor Zhang Yuanming, General Director of the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of CAS. The cooperation agreement includes joint research, staff training and experience exchange, joint publication, scientific events, and etc.

Within the framework of the visit, on the initiative of the president of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbeyli, the guests visited the Chinese Cultural Center under the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi. Acquaintance with the center made a great impression on the guests.

During the visit, joint expeditions were organized by the Institute of Botany to a number of areas of our country (Gobustan, Shirvan National Park, and Mud Volcanoes State Nature Reserve). The purpose of the expedition was to observe the semi-desert areas with the participation of Chinese scientists and carry out joint research for the restoration work in these areas in the future.
