An event was held on the occasion of March 8 - International Women's Day at the Institute of Botany of the State Agency for Science and Higher Education of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

General director of the Institute, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva opened the event and congratulated the female employees of the institution on the occasion of the remarkable day. Speaking about the role of women in the society, the professor noted that the Azerbaijani woman has rendered exceptional services in the preservation and survival of our national and spiritual values with her talent, intelligence, and will. Azerbaijani women have given the world literary figures, prominent scientists and artists, well-known political figures.

Head of the Department of Systematics and Phylogeny of Higher Plants, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Aydin Askarov talked about the scientific activities of female employees. The scientist, who highly appreciates the role of women in the scientific activity of the institute, listed the names of our women scientists who enriched the botanical science with their fundamental research.

In the end, a group of women actively participating in the scientific and social life of the Institute were presented with Honorary Decrees of the Institute of Botany and Society of Azerbaijan Botanists Public Union. Gifts were presented to women employees by the Free Trade Union Organization of the Institute.

The event ended with the presentation of an exhibition of accessories made of natural stones.
