On June 3-5, 2024, organized by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Nakhchivan State University, Institute of Botany of the Ministry of Science and Education, and Azerbaijan Society of Botanists of Public Union, “New Challenges in Ensuring Sustainability of Biodiversity (COP29) Green World and Human Health” an international scientific-practical conference will be held

The directions of conference:

- The modern state of biological diversity of Nakhchivan AR and possibilities of its use;

- Conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity in arid areas;

- Current approaches in pasture and hayfield restoration, systematic grazing and feeding;

- Bringing flora and fauna back to cities and expanding their informal learning opportunities;

- Conservation and use of arid land biodiversity for green living;

- Study of useful plants, effective use of folk medicine and ethnobotany;

- Biochemistry, biotechnology and biologically active substances of medicinal, aromatic and food plants;

- Biodiversity and ecosystem services in cold winter semi-deserts;

- Introduction and industrial importance of cultivation of useful plants;

- Challenges and solutions for biodiversity conservation in arid lands;

- Monitoring cropland biodiversity through citizen science.

Conference materials can be presented in Azerbaijani, Russian and English. 

Thesis design rules and requirements:

The text is typed in A4 format (210x297 mm), MS Word, Times New Roman font (size of letters -12; line spacing – 1; distances from the edge: from all sides – 2 cm); The total volume of the text should not exceed 1 page; Paragraphs are not spaced, text is aligned on both sides; The name of the thesis is written from the center with capital letters in bold, from each subsequent line: author(s) name, patronymic, surname (in full); scientific degree, scientific name, name and address of the institution where he/she works and studies (for PhD students and dissertation students), name of the country; e-mail address of the corresponding author; mobile contact number should be shown; The main text begins with a new paragraph (paragraph-1 cm) in normal font. Thesis will be published in electronic and print formats.  

The articles of theses selected by the editorial board will be published in the journal “Azerbaijan Journal of Botany” published by the Society of Azerbaijan Botanists Public Union (the journal is included in the “List of periodical scientific publications recommended for the publication of articles in the Republic of Azerbaijan” of the Higher Attestation Commission, and the articles are provided with DOI).
