General Director of the Institute of Botany, Professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva spoke at the Republican scientific-practical conference "Plant pests and their management under the conditions of global climate change" held in support of COP 29

In support of COP 29, a Republican scientific-practical conference on "Plant pests and their management under the conditions of global climate change" was held at the Scientific Research Institute of Plant Protection and Technical Plants. The conference was attended by Niyazi Bayramov, the head of Ganja City Executive Authority; academician Irada Huseynova, Vice-president of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, general director of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of the MSE RA; Yusif Yusibov, Zafar Gurbanov, University rectors; Farman Karimov, representative of the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan; Bayram Aslanov, chairman of YAP Ganja city organization; Anar Azimov, deputy chairman of the Agrarian Services Agency; directors and representatives of scientific-research institutions, including young researchers, scientists. The event began with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and a minute of silence was observed in memory of our martyrs who gave their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Opening the conference with an introductory speech Ibrahim Jafarov, director of the Plant Protection and Technical Plants Scientific Research Institute greeted the guests and reminded that 2024 has been declared the “Year of Solidarity for the Green World” in our country by the relevant Decree of our state. He noted that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) will be held in our country, and emphasized that the holding of such a prestigious event in Baku is related to the high trust of the global community in Azerbaijan, as well as the important services provided in this field in our republic. He noted that COP29 will be an event that will make a great contribution to the protection of the environment in the world. Later, he noted that the conference will have a broad discussion of these issues and the importance of scientists' speeches. Speaking at the conference, Niyazi Bayramov, head of Ganja City Executive spoke about the work done towards holding an important event such as COP-29 in the capital Baku under the leadership of honorable President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and emphasized that a delegation of 80-100 thousand people representing more than 190 countries of the world is expected to visit our country. He said that although the theme of the event is related to environmental issues, its economic and political significance is also undeniable. From the political point of view, the holding of a major international event in our country is an indication that Azerbaijan is a stable and safe country. At today's conference, he expressed his support for COP 29 and wished success to the progress of the conference. The republican scientific-practical conference continued its work with 9 sectional meetings scheduled for September 24
