“Information book on rare and endangered species of Karabakh” has been published

The Institute of Botany, MSERA has published a “Information Book on Rare and Endangered Species of Karabakh”.

The scientific editor of the publication is the general director of the Institute of Botany, professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva, the reviewers are professor Aydin Askerov and associate professor Vugar Karimov. The compılers are professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva, doctor of biological sciences Fatmakhanim Nabiyeva, and doctors of philosophy in biology Nuri Movsumova and Nigar Mursal gizi. The photographs belong to associate professor Elman Yusifov and Fatmakhanim Nabiyeva, and the layout of the maps to Narmin Sadigova.

The book contains information and photos about 87 species belonging to 41 families that are rare and endangered and distributed in Karabakh. The book, developed as a contribution to the “Great Return” of Karabakh communities, was published with the aim of introducing local communities to the plants distributed in the region where they live and protecting them.

It should be noted that the book was compiled based on the scientific research program on “Delivering ethnobiological information to communities to preserve the taxonomic composition and variability of wild biological resources in the flora of Karabakh”.

The book is distributed among local communities during expeditions of the Institute of Botany employees to the territories of Karabakh.
