An Event Dedicated to March 1 – World Civil Defense Day was held at the Institute of Botany of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The event was opened by Nazim Khalilov, Head of the Civil Defense Headquarters of the Institute, who delivered a speech on the topic “Civil Defense is a guarantee of the safety of the population”.  

In his presentation, he spoke about the activities of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) in protecting the population from emergencies and in the field of civil defense, and touched upon the purpose and organizational principles of civil defense, as well as the rights and responsibilities of the state, legal entities, and ordinary citizens in this area.

He noted that in the event of any potential mass threat, notifying the population, distributing personal protective equipment, and placing people in safe shelters constitute the primary duties of Civil Defense.
