Employees of the Department of Systematics and Phylogeny of Higher Plants of the Institute of Botany, MSERA were on an expedition in Lerik. The aim of the expedition was to collect seasonal plant samples in the areas in question, conduct phenological observations, and collect plant samples to enrich the Herbarium fund, in accordance with the thematic plan.
Under the leadership of the head of the department, Professor Aydin Asgarov, employees carried out extensive monitoring in Lerik and surrounding areas (the villages Gosmalyan, Khalifa, Razgov, Shonachola, Hoveri, Nisli, and Galasar).
In some of the studied areas, monitoring was conducted on 2 species (Paronychia kurdica, Hemerocallis fulva) included in the 3rd edition of the Red Book of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and normal development of their populations was recorded.
During the expedition, a distance of 1,000 km was covered at an altitude of -2,600 meters above sea level, and plant samples belonging to various families and genera were collected.
According to the initial assignment, 150 plant samples belonging to 20 families and 67 genera were collected across the region and their herbarium materials were prepared. After analysis, the specimens will be transferred to the Herbarium Fund.
