Employees of the Institute of Botany went on an expedition to Ganja

Employees of the Department of Systematics and Phylogeny of Higher Plants of the Institute of Botany, MSERA were on an expedition in Ganja. The aim of the expedition was to collect seasonal plant samples in the areas in question, conduct phenological observations, and enrich the Herbarium fund in accordance with the thematic plan.

Under the leadership of the head of the department, Professor Aydin Askerov, the employees carried out extensive monitoring in Ganja, Goygol, Dashkasan districts and surrounding villages, especially in the high mountainous areas (Goygol, Zod village, Toghana village, Chaykend road, the area around Nasimi spring, the entrance to Goygol National Park, Maralgol surroundings, Bayan village, the left side of the highway to Khoshbulag, Dashkasan, the right and left banks of the Goshgar river).

During the expedition, a distance of 1,000 km was covered at an altitude of 2,000 meters above sea level, and plant samples belonging to various families and genera were collected.

Based on the initial identification, 130 plant samples belonging to 20 families and 77 genera were collected from the district and herbarium specimens were prepared according to the appropriate methods.
