COMSTECH and Azerbaijan held a seminar on Nature-Based Medicinal and Cosmetic Products in Islamabad

The "COMSTECH–Azerbaijan Botanical Workshop Nature-Based Medicinal and Cosmetic Products" is held in Islamabad, Pakistan, from August 30 to September 7, 2025. The seminar is jointly organized by the Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMSTECH) and the Institute of Botany, MSERA.

A group of employees, led by the Director General of the Institute of Botany, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Dilzara Aghayeva, PhD Nigar Mursal gizi, Hilal Imanli, Emil Shukurlu, research fellow Ulkar Mahmudova, and PhD student Leyla Ahmadova, are on a visit to Pakistan in connection with the aforementioned international seminar.

The event brought together leading scientists, researchers, and young scholars from Pakistan and Azerbaijan to exchange knowledge, explore opportunities for joint research, and build capacity in the fields of medicinal plants and natural product sciences.

A delegation from the Institute of Botany, led by its Director General, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva, and comprising Dr., professor Dilzara Aghayeva; PhD Nigar Mursal gizi; Hilal Imanli; Emil Shukurlu; research fellow Ulkar Mahmudova; and PhD student Leyla Ahmadova, is visiting Pakistan to participate in the aforementioned international seminar.

Speaking at the opening session, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Pakistan Khazar Farhadov emphasized that relations between the countries are developing at a high level, both bilaterally and within the framework of the OIC. The ambassador touched on the ancient history of natural medicine in Azerbaijan.

At the opening session, Director General of the Institute of Botany, MSERA Dr., Professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva delivered a specially prepared presentation and lecture on "Medicinal Plants of Azerbaijan: Folk Medicine and Ethnopharmabotany."

The opening ceremony of the event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, a closing speech by Professor Ibadullayeva, and the distribution of certificates.

The event reaffirmed Pakistan and Azerbaijan's commitment to working together in natural product sciences, bioeconomy, and the development of scientific cooperation across the OIC.
