In accordance with the “Rules for raising awareness among young people on the importance of the family and marriage, its protection and strengthening, and the negative consequences of early and relative marriages” approved by Resolution No. 213 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated June 23, 2020, raising awareness on the topic of "The Importance of Family Among Young People, and the Negative Consequences of Early and Relative Marriages" was held at the Institute of Botany, MSERA. The event was organized by the Women's Council.
At the event, awareness raising speeches were given by Associate Professor Aygun Mammadova, Chairman of the Women's Council of the Institute of Botany; Associate Professor Parvana Garakhani, Head of the Herbarium Department; Associate Professor Kamala Asadova, Head of the Education Department; and Associate Professor Nigar Mursal gizi, Scientific Secretary. They discussed the negative consequences of early and relative marriages. The importance of raising awareness of young people about family values, early and relative marriages, and drop out of school was emphasized. It was noted that early and relative marriages are a contemporary family problem in Azerbaijan. Their occurrence often leads to family conflicts, divorce, the birth of children with birth defects and, consequently, to an increase in the number of socially vulnerable groups.
