An event dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy was held at the Institute of Botany of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
First, the memory of the victims of the Khojaly tragedy and our martyrs was honored with a one-minute silence.
Opening the event, Acting Director of the Institute, Professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva, stated that the Khojaly genocide was an integral part of the long-standing policy of ethnic cleansing and occupation carried out by Armenians against our people. She noted that the genocide committed in Khojaly was not only a bloody crime against the Azerbaijani people but also against all humanity. Emphasizing that the Khojaly genocide is one of the most horrific and unforgettable pages in the blood memory of our nation, the scholar underlined the importance of continuously informing the international community about this tragedy. Referring to the glorious victory achieved by our army in the 44-day Patriotic War and the far-sighted policy of the country’s leadership, she stated that the victims of Armenian vandalism had been avenged.
Currently, anti-national forces with roots among ourselves are targeting Mr. President Ilham Aliyev not merely as an individual, but as the architect and guarantor of the realities of victory and peace. Therefore, the Azerbaijani people must remain vigilant in these processes, and any tongue or hand raised against our President should be stopped by the people themselves.
At the event, Chair of the Women’s Council, Associate Professor Aygun Mammadova; Head of the Laboratory of Biological Resources and Technology of Individual Substances, Associate Professor Hilal Imanli; and Chair of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists, PhD in Biology Shabnam Isayeva shared their impressions regarding the Khojaly genocide.
A video reflecting the genocide was screened during the event.
At the end, employees of the Institute of Botany visited the Khojaly Genocide memorial.
