An expedition was carried out by the staff of the Ethnobotany Laboratory of the Institute of Botany PLE to the Zagatala-Balakan regions. The aim was to identify new uses of useful plants, assess the current state of flora and vegetation, and conduct bioecological, phytocenological, and taxonomic analyses.
During the expedition, studies were mainly conducted in the Mazimgara and Chaygarishan areas of the Zagatala State Nature Reserve. Ethnobotanical surveys were conducted among the local population, and early spring plants such as Asplenium adianthum-nigrum, Lathraea squamaria, Viola odorata, Viscum album, Ficaria calthifolia, Corydalis caucasica, Scilla siberica, Primula vulgaris, Chelidonium majus, and others were collected.
Herbarium samples were prepared, and GPS data for all localities were recorded.
