On April 29, 2026, an extensive seminar dedicated to the preparation of the new multi-volume edition of “Flora of Azerbaijan” was held at the Institute of Botany PLE.

At the opening of the seminar,  Acting Director of the Institute of Botany PLE, professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva, emphasized the scientific significance of revising and updating the multi-volume “Flora of Azerbaijan” and presented the preparatory stage related to the publication of the first volume for discussion. During the seminar, the structure and writing principles of the publication, the mapping of plant species distribution areas, ecological approaches related to the habitats of species, as well as issues of botanical-geographical regionalization were discussed in detail.

Later, the Head of the Laboratory of Higher Plant Systematics, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Aydin Askerov, delivered an extensive presentation on the topic “Preparation of Identification Keys for Plant Determination.” Professor A. Askerov particularly noted that identification keys are an important methodological component in the process of preparing the multi-volume “Flora of Azerbaijan.”

The seminar was attended by the scientific staff of the Institute of Botany, experienced scientists, and young researchers, and extensive exchanges of ideas were held on the topic.
