On May 7-8, 2026, a scientific symposium in the format of a Spring School entitled “Heydar Aliyev and the Nature of Azerbaijan,” dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the birth of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, was organized by the Institute of Botany PLE under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The main purpose of the symposium was to promote and scientifically analyze the activities carried out by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the field of environmental protection in Azerbaijan.
The opening ceremony began with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, followed by the screening of a video dedicated to Heydar Aliyev.
The event was attended by young scientists and doctoral students of the Institute of Botany PLE, members of the Botanical Society Public Union, the administration and students of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, members of "Bir Konullu" Students Cooperation Public Union, as well as scientists, doctoral students, master’s students, undergraduate students, and school pupils.
During the opening ceremony, acting director of the Institute of Botany PLE, professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva, spoke about the importance of the Spring School and the role of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev in shaping environmental policy and nature conservation in the country. The professor noted that, as a result of Heydar Aliyev’s initiatives, important and sustainable steps have been taken in Azerbaijan to protect biodiversity, use natural resources efficiently, and maintain ecological balance.
Within the framework of the two-day Spring School, young researchers delivered presentations on аctual topics such as biodiversity conservation, environmental protection, sustainable development, solutions to ecological problems, and the efficient use of natural resources, while also discussing Heydar Aliyev’s contributions to environmental protection in Azerbaijan. During the event, extensive exchanges of ideas took place among participants, and the questions raised were answered in detail.
At the end of the symposium, certificates were presented to the speakers. The event concluded with an exhibition prepared by the young specialists of the Institute of Botany PLE.
