Head of the Mycology Laboratory of the Institute of Botany PLE of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Dilzara Aghayeva participated in international events held in Manas, Kyrgyzstan. 

Professor D. Aghayeva took part in the international conference entitled “The Walnut-Fruit Forests of Kyrgyzstan: World Natural Heritage, a Global Treasure for Biodiversity, Climate and Sustainable Development”, organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), as well as in the annual meeting of the Regional Network on Forest Invasive Species for Europe and Central Asia (REUFIS).

The main goal of the event was to discuss issues related to the protection, sustainable management and development of the walnut-fruit forests of Kyrgyzstan, to expand international cooperation, and to establish new partnerships.

Within the framework of the conference, Professor Dilzara Aghayeva delivered a presentation on the topic “Nut-bearing fruit plants in Azerbaijan: diversity, uses and diseases.” In her presentation, she provided information about the variety of nut-bearing fruit plants found in Azerbaijan, their economic importance, areas of use, and major diseases.

The event, organized through joint cooperation of the FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia, government institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic, and a number of international organizations, was attended by representatives from more than 20 countries. The event was held in both in-person and online formats.
